Why Being a Community Interest Company (CIC) Matters to
Learning-To-Learn

Learning-To-Learn is registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) because this structure best reflects our purpose, values and way of working.

As a CIC, we exist to deliver public benefit, while operating with the flexibility and professionalism needed to work effectively across education, public services, charities and community organisations.

Public Benefit at the Core

Our CIC status legally commits us to using our activities and resources for community benefit.

Any surplus we generate is reinvested into delivering inclusive learning, enterprise development and community-empowerment programmes, rather than distributed for private gain.

Flexibility to Deliver Impact

The CIC structure allows us to:

  • deliver education, coaching and enterprise programmes at scale

  • work in partnership with councils, universities, NHS bodies and charities

  • generate income through training, consultancy and workshops

  • quickly to community needs and emerging challenges respond

  • This flexibility ensures our work remains sustainable, innovative and responsive.

Strong Governance and Accountability

As a CIC, we are regulated by the Office of the CIC Regulator and Companies House.

We operate under an asset lock, ensuring that our resources and assets are permanently protected for community benefit.

We are committed to transparent governance, ethical practice and responsible management in line with public-sector and third-sector expectations.

Inclusive and Sustainable by Design

Our work supports individuals and communities who may face barriers to education, employment or participation.

The CIC model enables us to combine social purpose with professional delivery, ensuring that our programmes are accessible, inclusive and financially sustainable.

Trusted by Partners and Funders

CICs are widely recognised and funded across the UK.

Our structure enables us to collaborate confidently with:

  • local authorities and public services

  • higher-education institutions

  • charities and voluntary organisations

  • community and faith groups

  • social-impact funders

Being a CIC allows Learning-To-Learn to combine social purpose with practical action—delivering learning that empowers individuals, strengthens communities and creates lasting impact.
